HELP OUT THIS SITE BY MAKING PURCHASES! Why I am writing On March 2, 2000 in the myWBS gothic chat room there was a little scuttle between Zzoth and Kymormon at first, followed by a lengthy follow-up argument between Zzoth and DewingedPixie (as a voice of protection for her friend, Ky). I didn't feel like getting into the mix completely, but I guess I had a few thoughts on the subject. Read on if you are actually interested. Send in your thoughts as well! I will post other peoples interests and views if they send me an e-mail commenting on this personal post. What I have to say ~ Opening comment I feel that it would be great to be totally ignorant. I mean, you would never know when someone is trying to make cutting remarks towards you! Yes, I often will attack and make fun of people that seem to be more ignorant than I because they grate on my nerves and try my patience. However, I would LOVE to be completely ignorant... because like the saying goes "ignorance is bliss." How the age thing factors in: All right, so in the chat room, it turned into this "I'm not digging on her because of her age, just her immaturity" and a variety of other supposed "insults" towards teenagers. So here I am giving my opinion... yea. ;) Yes, I am STILL an eighteen-year-old woman; yup teen. I will be nineteen on May 21st which means, yeah, I am younger than Pixie myself. So, it is very possible for one to think that I am "ignorant" based on my age alone. <BEGIN RANT> How can one know that they are ignorant? One cannot go around saying "No, I'm not ignorant," because how are they to know? Ignorance means, at least to me, not knowing. I know that I was more ignorant when I was a real young child than I am now, but I also believe that there have to be many aspects in life in which I still am very ignorant about. Becoming less ignorant is all in the process of growing up, and in the process of learning as well. Without ignorance the world would be an extremely boring place to live! Everyday, I am thankful for ignorance and ignorant people. However, at the same time I am extremely happy to learn something new each day in order to scratch away some of my own ignorance. I know that I never know what I am ignorant about (doesn't that sound silly?), until after I discover such unknown items. I do believe that I am perhaps "less ignorant" than some people my age, but that in no way is to say that I am not ignorant at all, or that I am above others because of what I know. I guess all I am trying to say is this; at the age of eighteen I know that there are many aspects of life that I have very little ignorance of, but there are still other aspects (which are unknown) that I must be completely ignorant about. It is only other people which can enlighten me that I AM ignorant in a certain area. I try to enlighten myself on as much as I can, but there is always more out there to learn. Because of this, I must rely on others to reach me as well. If it were ever possible to live without ignorance I would never choose to live; mainly because of two reasons. (1) I would be wa-aaaaay too bored because I couldn't make fun of anyone else. (2) Since everyone would be at the same intellectual level, there would be no interesting relationships. That is really all I have to say about that; now that I have already made a mountain out of a molehill. </RANT> |
